FOR TODAY (MIDNIGHT EDITION)

Lowcountry sunset
lowcountry sunset

Outside my window... midnight in the Lowcountry.

I am thinking... that it's been a pretty good weekend.

I am thankful for...
the time I was able to spend here in Beaufort, with my dad and brother. They're on their own while mom and sister spend four weeks in Okinawa, so I'm glad I was able to check up on them.

From the learning rooms...
a bit of genealogy and family stories from the Graham side of the tree.

From the kitchen...
a huge pan of meat lasagna using this recipe, with many modifications (lots more veg). Good stuff, with two thumbs up from the menfolk. And last night I made some amazing shrimp burgers with local Beaufort shrimp.

I am wearing...
pajamas, of course. I even managed to wear them all day. Score!

I am creating...
a playlist for the drive home tomorrow (today).

I am going...
to try to go to sleep very soon.

I am reading...
Owlhaven's blog post on affording adoption.

I am hoping... that this case of laryngitis I've had for three days will go away soon. Being unable to speak is no fun. Not to mention that my throat is seriously dry all the time.

I am hearing...
the sound of crickets and frogs singing their songs.

Around the house...
things are tidy, the fridge is stocked, and everyone is sound asleep.

One of my favorite things...
a rare hug and "I love you" from
my brother.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Same as last week. Work, work, work. Pray, pray, pray.

A picture thought...

where I've been: mom and dad's house, Beaufort, SC

" A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. "     Psalm 68:5-6

FOR TODAY
June 22, 2009

Outside my window... the sun-dappled backyard, looking deceptively pleasant even though it's 100 degrees outside.

I am thinking... about God's promises for my life, and how excited I am to see them being fulfilled.
I am thankful for...  everything.
From the kitchen... miso soup with potatoes, daikon, carrots and wakame seaweed for breakfast.
I am wearing... pajamas, as usual.
I am creating... too many things at once. But only in my head.
I am going... to the library for some free entertainment.
I am reading... Anne Morrow Lindbergh's Gift From the Sea and a stack of cookbooks.
I am hoping... that my upcoming weekend visit with my dad will be a blessing to him.
I am hearing... "The Swell Season", by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova and wondering why I haven't before.
Around the house... the kitchen is begging to be tidied but it can wait a bit longer.
One of my favorite things... seeing the people I love drawing nearer to the Lord.
A few plans for the rest of the week: work, work, work. Pray, pray, pray.
A picture thought...
